"But they shouldn't call that lovely place the Avenue. There is no meaning in a name like that. They should call it--let me see--the White Way of Delight. Isn't that a nice imaginative name?"
I think of this passage from L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables every morning when I drive to work these days.
I knew I had to get these pictures tonight because the petals falling off of these trees look like a snowstorm. And speaking of storms it's supposed to rain tonight so I think these delicate little flowers are done for by morning.
Artsy-Fartsy close-ups. I like the second one because it was really windy when I took these and you can sort of tell if you click on the picture. It makes me a little dizzy.
These trees are right by the steps to my apartment building.
I see these every morning when I come out of the complex.
And then these purple flowers are just beautiful. They hardly look like anything unless you are far away and moving- the misty color is really strong. But they look pretty good with some contrasting green in the picture too:

Oh so pretty! I was just noticing that forcythia has bloomed in the DC area when I was running tonight... we've still got another week or two before the cherry blossoms are at their peak though - and a festival to go along with it! Wanna come visit?

And THAT is exactly the voice in my head when I drive to work! Thank you for finding it. :) Guess I'll put that movie on my Amazon wishlist too....
Yeah. Pretty jealous of those blossoms over here. It SNOWED today in Minneapolis.
Sal- it's all part of my evil plan to get people to move south. Nashville should be paying me commission or something. :)
