The Day After Yesterday

This day is so beautiful. I got up early and the sun was shining, the birds singing, and the sky blue. It's breezy and not too hot.

I had a lot to do. I got it all done before 11:00 because my middle name is determination. Well, no, it's not, but there was a lot to get done and I wanted to knock it out before the rain comes back.

I know I haven't blogged in a while, but really I've been such a domestic homebody lately that there's not a lot to say. For example, this morning I cleaned out my big outdoor trashcan! GROSS! And then, I mulched the little flower bed next to my deck:
If you want to make a flowerbed look really good, mulch it. I am amazed at the difference. Right now this little bed has hostas and some little purple plants I got at Lowe's last week that are just starting to grow a little more. They'll catch up!

Then I potted some herbs I got at the store yesterday. They will probably die, but it's a bad habit I can't break. Maybe they'll get a better amount of sunlight in this place than other plants did in my last two apartments....
Mint, basil, and oregano.
Here's the fuschia plant I've managed to keep alive for a WHOLE WEEK!
It's sooooo pretty! It's covered with buds- the thing is just going to explode in flowers really soon.
I pulled my deck furniture out of storage where it's been sitting since Friday night, and got it all back to where it needs to be. Really the deck is starting to feel like another living room. It gets morning sun but it's shady in the afternoon.
It is so pretty out there and I always see ducks and little birds (cardinals, blue jays, robins, and that's the extent of my bird knowledge!) and squirrels and butterflies. It's so peaceful.
Oh, just spotted this little guy today:
I love how this picture makes him look GODZILLA big. He's tiny.
There's a little stream behind these trees. It's so little you can't see it much- the duck picture shows it better.

HOWEVER, yesterday, here's what the stream looked like:

The weather people had been talking up this storm system for DAYS, with comforting wording like this:
...MODERATE RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER FOR ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON SATURDAY...
A MODERATE RISK MEANS THAT THERE IS A 45 PERCENT CHANCE OF A SEVERE
WEATHER EVENT (DAMAGING WINDS...LARGE HAIL OR TORNADOES) OCCURRING WITHIN 25 MILES OF ANY GIVEN LOCATION IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.

Which they didn't think sounded scary enough so on Saturday morning they changed it to this:
...HIGH RISK OF SEVERE WEATHER FOR ALL OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE ON SATURDAY...
A HIGH RISK MEANS THAT THERE IS A 30 PERCENT CHANCE OF A TORNADO OCCURRING WITHIN 25 MILES OF ANY GIVEN LOCATION IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE.

And did it ever storm! Lucky for Nashville nothing really bad happened around here, but it was still a day of ominous looking skies and canceled plans. I kept running errands and going home to check the weather. Grocery store- home- Target- home- Lowes- home. Once I got home the last time I didn't go out again as it was getting too dangerous. Then I got really nervous about what was going on, so I organized my pantry, vacuumed, spot cleaned some spots on the carpet, cleaned a bathroom, and did some filing. And watched a good chunk of weather coverage because those were some incredible storms.

And now, like most days after a tornado day, it is beautiful. So I'm going out to enjoy it. Happy weekend!!!

Thank you! The best part is that the condo association has to take care of it- so I can enjoy the prettiness without being in charge of the prettiness. :)
